Is It Silver?

I found my first jewelry the other day. no I am wondering if there a simple way to tell if an earing is silver or just junk?

I've found most of the times if it's the real deal it will have a stamp on it somewhere. But not always. The stamps can be very tiny!! The sure fire way to tell is get yourself a gold & silver testing kit. They sell just gold or just silver tests. And they also sell kits for testing both. But the cheapest way I've had it done is for free! I just take it to a jeweler or one of those We Buy Gold ! stores and they'll test the items for no cost.

The trouble with going to a gold buyer is they sometimes tell you an untruth. But they will give you some small price if you want to sell it

Get a bottle of Silver Black - cheap and never need to ask anyone again. If a small drop of it wont wash off it's silver. Steve in so az

If you can get some nitric acid you can test it with that. Nitric acid on silver turns white, on other metal it turns green. That's probably what's in those silver test kits. It works great to test suspected silver ware.
