It Beat Raking Leaves

I had an hour to hunt before dark today so I ran down to the construction site that we have been hitting hard to see if anything was left. And, there wasn't much. I managed to pull one wheat penny (1945) and a 1949 rabies tag. My hunting buddie's daughter is graduating from college soon and then she is going to be a veterinarian after some more schooling. So Jim wants to present her with a frame of old tags. I have found five more from middle Georgia that I am going to donate and the funny thing is; they are all 1949 tags. That must have been a good year.

1949 may have been a good year, but maybe not for the dogs....lol
Cool idea presenting the dog tags to a future veterinarian.

I like finding dog tags.....I don't know why....I like that it gives me the town and a date.

I wonder if in 1948 or 49 there was a rabies outbreak in the area so more people got there dogs vaccinated?

I agree dog tags are cool to find. I have a pretty good collection going lol. My oldest is a New York state 1920. I really like the gift idea:)

Yep, have a small collection of dog tags too. 1899 is the oldest one so far. Nice to see someone getting out :)

thats a cool idea fyrffytr1 i'd be happy to donate the few i have for the cause

Del,
I am sure my buddy would appreciate any and all tags he can get. I would gladly pay postage for yours. I thought about keeping four of the five like tags and trading them if anyone is interested. These are the four I would trade.

Del,
They look great. I am sure Jim will like them. I am not going to tell him about them just yet. I'll let it be a surprise! Jim gets me access to the sites we hunt so I feel like this is kind of a pay back.

Hello!

My name is Neil McElroy ~ I am a member of ISALC (the International Society of Animal License Collectors). We are always looking for newly discovered DOG TAX tag and DOG LICENSE tag finds. We keep record of all known pre-1900 tags and oldest known tags from all issuing agencies (State, county, township,city/town, etc.).

Have you dug up an old dog tag (not military I.D. "dog tags")? PLEASE e-mail me pictures and info on where it was found ~ [email protected] . If you have a new O.K. (oldest known) or any newly reported tag then I will forward the info to the author of US DOG LICENSE TAGS Dr. William Bone. He will record the info and reflect it in the future printings of his book!

Thank you!

Nice tag! I love them, have a fairly big collection myself! About 50 I guess... Thanks for the info Robbie. Although I think my oldest is 1921.
