I found this in the woods recently. From the little research I have done I have come to think it is a officers hat plate from a circa 1900 Bavarian soldiers helmet. The motto reads IN TREUE FEST. Any help would be appreciated. :)101_1877.jpg

it could be that early , heres a 1904 helmet with a similar one notice the crown is a bit different than yours, great piece zrickkid.

Great find!!! I looked up the meaning, but it seems there are a lot of ways to translate it, but this is the best one I found showing the different ways to interpret it

The etching is a Bavarian motto meaning... "In Loyalty Steadfast" or Treue meaning ...loyalty, firm faith, true, allegiance, fedelity. Fest meaning ...steadfast, solidly, securely, firm
