Hello all I just got my garret 250 and tried my backyard today but the ground is still frozen :(. I will mainly be hunting silver coins in backyards of abandoned homes in my area...I know I will miss some good stuff focusing on silver but I want to dig as little junk as possible.

Hey, welcome aboard from western MA. I'm not sure if you can set the Ace 250 for just silver, as the notch settings will probably include more higher conductive targets. I think digging some other scraps is probably going to happen, but you can limit quite a bit of it. Good luck and I hope you get some silver.

Welcome from western MA. Looking forward to your future finds and posts. Good luck with the silver....:thumbsup02:

Welcome to the forum. I hear you on the silver. The older I get, the more selective I become. Good luck and HH.

Thanks all. My backyard is still frozen so im going to hit a home of a womans house that I grew up knowing as my grandmother was her neighbor. The house is boarded up so im going to test the ground over there

Welcome from North East Massachusetts! Looking forward to seeing your finds, happy hunting!

Welcome from central Illinois! :waving:

Glad to have you here, mrnogood! I hope you find lots of goodies there in Ohio! That state seems to be excellent for metal detecting, many people do well there.

Best of luck and happy hunting!

Tony

Welcome. On my ACE 250 I can't tell the difference between a clad dime and a silver dime. They ring up the same. Same with clad and silver quarters and half dollars. I even found a silver dollar with my ACE 250 and it rang up as "dollar." Best wishes and happy hunting. Lots of good folks on this forum to help if you need it. Dave.

Hello and welcome! I also enjoy hunting silver and coins mainly. But I never pass on those "iffy" signals cause you never know what you will pull up. I guess that is the addicting part of metal detecting. I will be doin some hunting up in Ohio soon (my family is from there) so let me know of some good spots!

I hope the ground has thawed for you. I was still trying to break up that chocolate colored frost Sunday morning. I'm glad you joined us and good luck with your finds.
