One More FNG

Hi All,

I'm the FNG here and new to the hobby as well. I retired from the AF about 2 years ago and am now working as a contractor in Iraq. My family and home is currently in Colorado Springs. I was home for a couple of weeks back in August decided to satisfy my long time urge to get into the hobby. I purchased a V3i a couple of days before heading back over here. I figured I would have plenty of time to study and learn about my new machine while away. This site and the smart folks on it as well as several other sites have been a tremendous help to me. I can't wait to get home and put all of my new knowledge to good use. I only have about 10 minutes swinging my new toy and my first (and only) find so far was a 1962 dime. I'm hoping this is a good sign of things to come.

Cheers,

Welcome aboard My4Kiwis. :clapping: You will love the hobby. It's a great way to spend some peacefull time. From parks, to beaches to old cellar holes, it's fun to find history just a couple inches in the ground. Thanks for all you do in the military. Metal detecting would not be possible without it :beerbuddy:

Welcome aboard the forum and to your new obsession.

I'm sending you an email with a little extra reading material that you may find helpful climbing the learning curve.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!! I got your e-mail Lowjiber...both of them, LOL. I really do appreciate your willingness to share what you've collected with me. I am really itching to get home and put what I've picked up to good use. As it stands now I should be home for a break in Late January, I just hope it's a warm winter and the ground isn't frozen solid.

Cheers,
My4Kiwis

Welcome from California! 8) Glad you found us here and you will enjoy this hobby! I picked it up when I retired as well! Be safe over there!

Thanks again for all the warm welcomes! I can't wait to get home and actually swing my new toy instead of just reading about it.

Cheers,
