Dug this back in March or April. You can read the words United States of America on one side but don't know what year or type. Looks like it has a wreath on the reverse. IMG_4104.jpgIMG_4103.jpgIMG_4102.jpgIMG_4101.jpg

Pretty sure you're not gonna get a date off that one  that thing is obliterated. Jim, it seems like you either find really beautiful coppers or god awful ones.... I think it's a matron head though the wreath looks similar to one... pretty unique find for sure! :) still counts as a largie in my book

the superstition back in the day was a coin with a hole was considered a good luck piece/token but :wow: , someone must of really needed some good karma .

seriously that one must have been used as a washer or other type of cap or valve . pretty interesting to see what people did to their money back then .

I might put that on my keychain (if it was mine ) to see if the good luck worked who knows maybe it will make me stop locking my keys in my car

I surmise they used them for meat grinder parts....or strainers of some sort. I found one with about 12 drilled holes in it. Dan won't stop locking his keys in his car no matter what he does with his detecting finds
