Tried out my new scoop today

[Napa Steve]

Kim and I hit the beach early this morning to take adavantage of the 9:00 AM low tide, I picked up a new scoop a couple weeks ago and was dying to try it out, in the photos below you can see the shape of my last one, we ended up hitting two beaches, the first for 3 hours and the second for about a half hour, we were shooting for the gold but ended up with all clad an no jewlery, it wasn't till I got home that I realized one of the coins was silver, I found a war nickel with an S mintmark, Im not sure of the date yet, I have it soaking in olive oil right now, does anyone have a secret potion for the war nickel, it would be appreciated.

That baby is doing a great job for ya thumbsup01 I gotta get me something better than just a sand scoop, I've been hunting water for about 4 or 5 years now and I always go to swimming areas, I need to broaden my horizons and get something I can dig better with in spots where no one else has been hunting.

Some people use worstishire sauce on nickels. Not sure about silver war nicks. Nice scoop! I have 1 similar but without the screen bottom.

Nice hunt :happydance01: I would die to be hunting now lol Sounds like you had some fun. The war nickel can be given some quick time in electrolysis and it may clean up. Nice scoop, well made too. Did you know some of the beach guys leave some magnets inside the scoop so that they can trap the thin iron without it going through the scoop?? I guess they run all metal and it's a pain to find the iron sometimes.
