Wow! :wow:awesome find Steve. Looks like we're going back there again:yes:
I sent an email to Mark Parker at wetreasures.com and he got back to me in 2 days with an ID! The coin is a well worn Fernando VII Spanish colonial 1/4 real copper from Santo Domingo c. 1810-1820.
Doesn't get better than that!
Great hunt Isaac, interesting BB dents in that large cent! Get back for more as soon as possible!
Here are some more pictures. I went through all my colonial coin and button books:dontknow:
Looks to be copper, came in as a copper coin on my M6, it's the size of a nickel.
Steve and I got out for a hunt today at a colonial home site. Dug this coin or button at 7 inches down, VDI 75-80.
Any clue to what it is?
No, he was just interested in the date of the property, he thought is went back to the mid 1800's. We took the coins home, gently cleaned them and gave them to him to display at the house the next...
A colonial home had the first few inches of grass removed, so Steve and I spoke to the home owner who gave us the ok to hunt the property:cheesysmile:. Found the coppers within the first few minutes:...
Great team hunt Tony, thanks for the video. Love watching the silver come out of the ground!
You actually took a trip back in time and saw the people that lived there. Amazing. Never saw a find like that.
Nice!
It must be amazing to dig a coin that was dropped over 800 years ago. Thanks for sharing, great pictures!:thumbsup02:
With the ground not as hard a cement:frozen: and both Steve and I (almost) over our bout with the Flu:sick::sick:, we decided it was time to get out for a hunt. Found this button at a colonial house...
Sorry about the double post!
Been a while since i've been out swinging but had a hour or so to get out. Went to a spot that has given up some nice coins in the past and gave it a go. Got a 1920's era token for Force cereal...
Congrats on a sweet find, would love to dig one of those. Great shot of the coin in the ground.
Those are the days I dream of. Bob, hope you have many more Amazing Mondays :beerbuddy:
Hey Steve, if you got a good signal under that would you dig it? :thinkingabout: Make sure you double glove :beerbuddy:
Thanks for the video, looks like you had a great day for detecting
Those old farm fields give up some beauties, and that KG is proof. Congrats on a truly awesome find |:cheering:
Thats a great big silver find and a sweet token :clapping:
Nice mix of 1800's coins. Still looking for my first 2 center
Thats one sweet Seated Liberty |:cheering:, great detail left. I agree with Tony must have been dropped before 1880!
Nice finds, great team hunt |:cheering:
