Can you post an extreme macro close up of the date and mint mark?
I know how that goes. My wife and I had our second child in 2010, so needless to day I only got out about 10-12 times the whole year. You did much better with the silver than I did.
As far as...
I think you should try to find a few more in the next few days. Nevermind all that snow...
Can you make a carbon rub of the stamping?
Way to go! That's phenomenal. I can't wait for the yearly re-cap similar to last years- You'll need to make it a 5 part post instead of just the two!
You're doing well- Now get out there, cut that frost, and find 8 more 90% silvers so that no one can say wartime Jeff's don't count!
Looks like something like an acid was used to dissolve some copper. The nickel clad is harder and therefore doesnt dissolve as quickly as the pure copper core.
I've been waiting for your newest posts... I was itchin' to see where the silver count stands.
Nice hunting!
Still pretty good- My last silver find was in July 2009!
Very nice, early date! Is there a mintmark underneath that mud?
Yes, it has. Here it is: http://www.snopes.com/photos/humor/batteryhack.asp
That unknown object looks to be a money clip. Can we see the back?
Can you post a picture of the mint mark area enlarged?
It *looks* to be an S, as I have several 1916 dimes in about the same condition, but it's very hard to tell.
Wow that's a lot of silver! WTG! I think that if I were out for 14 hours over a weekend, by the time I came back my wife would've filed for a divorce!
What mint mark does that 1918 carry? That's a nice early walker- hard to find!
Check out the beach and water hunting section... he's been playing out in the water lately!
The water sure makes those nickels look interesting- Also adds some texture to the silver it looks like. Another good hunt!
Holy cow that's a lot of Walkers to find in a day!
I've been eagerly waiting for your silver finds over in the dirt hunter's side of the forum... Glad I took a peek over in Beaches, Ponds, and...
Correct- you can tell it is an 1859 from the wreath on the reverse which was used that one year only.
That 1920 Dime must've been very new when it was dropped.
Nice silver!
Is that mystery token a Bank of Upper Canada token?
Only one silver? You must've had an off day. Is the E-trac ok? ;)
What a cool spill! I'd love to find a seated ANYTHING let alone a CC coin!
Looks like your slow methodic method really paid off this hunt.
You can get silica gel packs when you buy new shoes too... They are usually in the toes of new shoes.
I don't have a Sam's Club card, but I do have a Costco card. I use the Kirkland Signature batteries (48 AA for about $13) in both my Ace 250 and XLT. They are comparable to Duracells in all respects...
