Headed to Florida Saturday for a week on the beach. Carrying my Etrac with me. Any advice would be appreciated as I have never hunted a beach before.
Can't remember name of stuff, but if you go to a sporting goods store and look where the Off is, you find a spray for your clothing. I spent four nights sleeping on the ground in Missouri last August...
Going on vacation starting next week. :) Will have opportunity to hunt beach area.(swimming area on lake with sand hauled in) Anyway, since i have not had my etrac on any beach areas and time will be...
Looks like you are doing your homework! One thing I can tell you though. I have dug some iffy signals and as I started to dig, numbers would improve. On the other hand, I have dug iffy signals and...
Simular story here. Had permission from County Judge to hunt local fairgrounds. Fairgrounds are inactive, no fair in several years.
Local municipal employee has been sort of the unofficial overseer...
Anyone from Fayetteville Arkansas area?
Yep. Book covers explorer and etrac. Lot of good info!
Ditto! :)
Deltacornbread, it should pop up. Just so you know, it's not a cover like the ones we are used to. it's more like a decal that sticks to the screen.

Cool, sounds like what I want! :)
Got a cover for the etrac from Kellyco and it makes the screen very hard to see. Where are you getting the Zag cover from?
Can we get a new sticky started that members can post state by state where they live? Be nice to have data base of fellow hunters that live close by.
Mechanic at a paper mill. I also have a rice levee surveying business.

What workked for me was going back and forth form reading the book, to using the E-Trac. It helped me see what Andy was describing, and the book made mor esense after...
Was doing this in quick mask. Ground has not been disturbed in years. Just seemed a bit odd. Went to another park yesterday for awhile and did not notice this. But yesterday was hunting playground...
Can we make this thread a sticky? One of my want to buy for 2010 is a small coil for my Etrac. Nothing wrong with the stock coil, but I hunt in some EXTREMELY trashy areas and would like a smaller...
I was out yesterday and for whatever reason it was penny day for me. No wheats or indian just coppers dated from 59 to 67. Anyway, one thing I noticed and that was that the e-trac seemed to be...
We have pretty much thawed out here. Some spots where the sun does not hit still froze. Am going out sometime this weekend for awhile.
Welcome. Think you will find some pretty good folks here!
Same here. Thanks OD.
In my somewhat limited experience I have found that targets in trashy ground at the depth you are talking about generally give a good signal. That said I have gotten iffy signals at these depths and...
The signals I listen for when seeking deep targets are not the classical ones we may be familiar with. Such tones will be at the cusp, or limit, of the detector's maximum depth capabilities. They are...
Good find! My limited experience with the etrac; if it is deep, numbers wander around, but somewhere in there you get a good tone. Right now I am digging in those situations. And so far, as I dig and...
I have put the pressure on Big Al! He is leaning towards the Spectra and I hope he gets it. Then I can get a first hand account of Etrac vs Spectra! :) Actually I enjoy the fact that I have a part of...
Merry Christmas to all!!!
Now,it's Hi-ho,hi-ho it's off to work we go! :(
