I have had the opportunity to do some relic hunting around my area in northern Minnesota, lots of old logging camps around these parts.
I used to live in Rochester - I have no intention of going back there. I know there are metal detectorists up my way, but I never see them out and about.
I was going to try it on a coin, but never got around to it.
Since it has been raining just about every day here, I managed to rig up a little electrolysis setup and dropped the axe head I found...

I finally had a chance to put the coil to the soil and my first find was an axe head, then a 1965 quarter and a few zincolns.
I found the axe head along the mighty Mississippi river bank where...
I feel the pain.
Went from a deep freeze to 60ºF a couple weeks ago - all the snow really melted down.
Now we got a couple of inches and the temp is -0º on the readout :frozen:
