Six Silvers on June 1, 2013, plus Indians and Buffaloes

I almost didn't go detecting yesterday because the forecast called for an 80% chance of rain, but I'm glad I decided to go anyway because it ended up being a beautiful day. I actually went back to Two-Cent Park because I can't stop thinking of all the wonderful coins I've found there. However, after three hours and only one wheat cent and one buffalo nickel I am now ready to declare this park hunted out. :-\

So, I drove on to the next town and tried my luck at their grade school. There I found 3 wheat cents and a silver 1953 Rosie. From there I went to an old park but didn't find much of anything, so I decided to go back to the grade school.

By this time the kids were done with their ball practice so I wandered over to the large ball field area. There is actually a huge grassy area adjacent to the 2 ball fields. I also noticed an old cornerstone and plaque that indicated that an older school built in 1890 once stood where the newer grade school now sits.

Here in this grassy area right off the bat I found a wheat cent then a 1901-O Barber Dime. That lifted my spirits! In the next two hours at one small corner of this grassy area I had found 2 Indian Heads, 9 wheat cents, 2 Buffalo Nickels, the Barber Dime, and 4 Mercury Dimes! Talk about fun!

Here are my finds for the day:

This 1916 Mercury Dime was a heart stopper. I could tell that it had a mint mark but I couldn't tell what it was. When I put my glasses on I could clearly see that it is an S. Still a nice find, my first 1916-S Merc.

We need more emoticons when someone post something like this. Bigger bulging eyes and in a larger font. What a sweet hunt. again.
