Hey Sal, I Google it and came up empty except for an article in Western/ Eastern magazine where someone found some other tags. They are not yours but went for some big bucks In the answer in that article, it has the name and address of a serious collector named Jack Lucas. Write him or try and get his E Mail and see if he can ID them. I bet he can. Here's the link:

I sent 2 pics of the tag to a site called Railroadiana and the guy there posted it for me on his site. Maybe one of those train fanatics can help.
" What doesn't kill you makes you stronger"
Possibly a tag from the Connecticut Western (circa 1868-1880, then reorganized as the Hartford and Connecticut Western from 1881 to 1889, later merged into still larger railroads over time) - the tag makers usually put their name on the tag somewhere, most commonly on the little sliver of metal above the attaching hole. Can't find any pictures of their tags online anywhere, but it fits the area of the find and they would certainly have been in use during the time period that the railroad operated under that name. The 'Local' designation meant the the luggage and attached tag should have stayed on the 'home' railroad, and not be transferred to a connecting railroad at any time.
It was posted at the Railroadiana website and I got this as a Reply: By the way if your thinking what's it worth, the website doesn't permit appraisals. I'm not even gonna guess. It depends on what someone will pay.

No one seemed to know the value of it yet? Maybe they will post some more. At least you have a lead that it was a Massachusetts line. That's a start anyways.
