    Silver And Corroded Copper

This weekend was a washout. We had too much rain and strong winds which would have made detecting at the park quite uncomfortable. I did manage about an hour or so on Saturday at a local park but I left as soon as the rain picked up again.

These are the finds from Saturday.

There was no rain today, so in the afternoon I headed to another park. There I picked up several more silver pieces - eight silver coins and a sterling silver religious pendant.

Two of the mercury dimes have an 'S' mintmark, the 1917 and 1923. I was pleased to see a date on the Standing Liberty quarter as well.

I also dug up a good luck token and a battered copper coin. I can barely make out the word Liberty at the top of the first image and some of the digits at the bottom. It is an old one. Too bad it's corroded.

Nice hunt as usual. Congrats! Too bad about that copper, but that SLQ would make up for it.

Outstanding finds my friend. Another SLQ! I really want to find one of those beauties this year. And it dosen't even have to have a date on it either.

The funny thing is that now when I dig a SLQ having a readable date I mumble to myself 'it counts'.

I just wish the coppers found at the parks out here held up much better.

The wording on the token is Lucky Pocket Piece For Norge Salesmen. The token is just about the size of a quarter.

I'm fascinated with that lucky token with swastika - Googled it and all I found was an expired bid on EBAy. Curious for what it went for... oh well.

Nice finds!! I sure wish though that people would have thought about us and wrapped those coppers in a 2x2 flip or something so they lasted a bit longer! Congrats!

Excellent finds, it sure does seem like copper anything takes a beating at those parks you hunt. Your daily silver counts regularly outpace my monthly silver totals. Totally awesome!
