    Needing some advice 01/14/14

I belong to a detecting forum here in Okla, which I am also a Global Moderator. A few of the guys on the site have come up with a ideal of doing a spring trip to somewhere close to Okla. with hopes we might get to dig some older dirt. The guys have talked about Nebraska, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri and Iowa because they are within a day of hard driving. Our group might consist of 10 to 20 people that would make the trip. Does anyone have suggestions on what state and maybe where in the state. Also we plan on trying to hunt for two days and they have talked about April or May.

Thanks in advance for any help

    Dave

Can't help you on the location issue, but I would definitely recommend your hunting spot be a farmer's field. It's ease of digging and ability to handle large groups makes it ideal. Start by locating some farms near an old part of town and chatting with the owner and gaining permission. You don't have to go far from your home base to get good finds. Hope this helps a little.

I've been to several weekend group hunts at Boy Scout camps in Ohio- they allowed us to come in spring before camps started. Also some church camps. Both had historical relevance with lots of old buildings/sites. Good luck with your researching!

Btw I'm not suggesting Ohio, just that's where ours were...
