    Whats the better all-round coil?

I'm looking at a Whites MXT Pro, and my dealer thinks I'll be happier with the 9.5 Eclipse coil, instead of the new 12" Super coil. I've read that the 10"DD coil is very good, and the 6x10 DD is one of Whites best coils. WHAT SHOULD I DO?!!!

Buy them all. You can't have too many.
Between my two primary land machines I currently have 10 coils, and I'll likely add to that over the summer.

Consider SEF coils too. They have some nice coils out there and have proven themselves as good, stable coils over the years.

There is some good information here for SEF coils and whites detectors. I was thinking about it for my V3i, and wondering if it might be better in the salt sand than the DD. http://www.findmall.com/read.php?66,1842865

    MXT & 6x10 DD Eclipse = BEAST

The 12" super is good for CLEAN grounds. And I mean CLEAN. Otherwise it drives you nuts.

Having the 10" round DD I can say, better go with the 6x10 because pin pointing with the 6x10 is dead on.

And if you reduce sensitivity/gain there is no need for the shooter.

    Cheers

The coil choice will depend on what type of hunting you will be doing. I have all of those coils except the 12 inch which I think would be too heavy with little depth gain over the 10d2. The coil you choose will depend on which type of hunting you will do. 12 and 10 inch for open fields with little trash. 950 is supposed to be best on the beach. 6x9 for parks and the 4x6 for heavy trash sites. Over time you will likely accumulate several coils but as Coinnut pointed out, you should consider the SEF coils. IMHO they see a little deeper and ID better. I have the 10x12 and the 8x6. I rarely put a Whites coil back on the machine. good luck with your choice.

If you can get the D2 coil instead of the 12" go for it, a lot better coil all around I think and much more popular, especially for the relic hunters and coin hunters, the 12" can get mighty heavy and wear on you where the D2 isn't quite so bad. I have seen where a couple guys were given the option of the D2 instead of the 12 but that's up to the dealers discretion.

if you have to have a whites coil on the machine when you buy it then try to get either the stock 950 or a smaller coil like a 5.3 or 4x6 . these coils have less issues than the D2 or 6x10 and the 12 inch is a bit big and not really a great coil. then do yourself a favor and get a sef (butterfly) coil like a 10x12 you won't regret it . they run more stable have great coverage , better separation , handle mineralization better and less affected to emi.

I'm in S.E. Ingham County. I've already started investigating the possibilities of tracking down those sorts of sites.

I believe that is the new version that is calibrated for the white's machines (mostly for the V3i I think?). Make sure it fits your model though. Being white, it is supposed to stay more stable on hot, sunny days by reflecting the sun as opposed to the black ones that absorb.

That coil is for the (V3I/VX3/MXT/M6/MX5/DFX) machines. So the literature says.
