    thanks Kasey , you should of seen it when i first removed it from the dirt , it was just an odd piece of brass scrap to me until i cleaned it

    You guys always find the best stuff. . . I am guessing the couple on the hinged lid are dancing. The Donut in the background might symbolize the Maypole. just a WAG.

    Ronandari , my first thought was that they could be dancing .the Maypole idea is a definite possibility thanks.

    I know that feeling well. Just last weekend, I found what I thought was a shotgun minus the long barrel and the wooden stock. So much red clay/dirt. After cleaning off the dirt, my "gun" turned out to be a toy tractor minus the wheels. The steering column was minus the steering wheel, and turned upside down and combined with the seat, it looked like the trigger area of a gun! Happy and sad at the same time!
