First Hunt of the year... Finally!!

    Hi guys,
I finally got out for my first time of the year. I did some field hunting. The first site I didn't find much just a broken indian gorget..
My next site was an old millsite that's now a corn field. I hunted for an hour and didn't find anything much. I was taking a break and I looked down and there was a arrowhead.. Sweet!!
So I was hunting along and got a nice quarter signal at 5 inches on my CTX 3030... I dug down and out pops this very nice 1848 large cent.. Not bad for the first hunt of the year.

    close-up of the large cent..

    Thanks for looking guys!!!
    Happy hunting!!

    dalewestaby,
I do map studies. Comparing older maps to newer maps in the Area I want to hunt in.. The more Maps the better.. And I use some online tools to overlay maps to find old homes that is been torn down 100 years ago.. That I talk to the farmer see if I can get permission to get into this field usually it's not a problem.. It's nice that I don't have to deal with modern trash and aluminum..

Thanks guys it was a fun hunt!!
