    1st Seated Dime

Went on a hunt with SilverStar in the woods today, temp was a bit chilly at 35 degrees, but it was dry and snow free.

First good find was what I can only describe as a "mystery sterling whats-it? It's very thin, weighs .7g and has some residual rust inside. Three marks on the outside, a star, eagle?, and "D". there was a piece of hollow black plastic that fell out of the middle after I dug it...any suggestions would be appreciated...

Started to dig a lot of bullets, a buckle and an old metal glass stopper. I was climbing out of a small ravine when almost at the top I got a clear shallow dime signal at 1-2 inches. I swung again, 83-84, repeating...silver. Dug it out and was shocked to find an 1891 "O" seated dime, my first ever, and the only coin found today....thanks for looking......HH.

Congrats on your first seated dime, Rob! That's awesome! It looks like it was fairly new when dropped too, not much wear on it.

The sterling item is a real mystery. I wonder if it is part of a musical instrument like a clarinet? Just a wild guess.

Congrats for the finds. Nice seated and the silver looks like a ring made from a spoon maybe? Safe & HH

Thanks for everyones kind comments, it only took me just shy of 4yrs hunting to find a seated coin. regarding
the mystery sterling item, its definitely not a ring made from a spoon, its paper thin. I will have to post on the
925-1000 forums to get additional info....

Perhaps the sterling item was the bottom tip of a cane?

Nice finds. Have not been out yet but get to sneak a hunt in Saturday in a church basement. Dirt floor from the 1800's could be nice or a bust. Keep swinging Wisconsin Digger
