Super Seated Sunday with Ill Digger

Me and Tim (Ill Digger) got together for an all-day hunt today. Such a beautiful spring day, temps near 60 and bright sunshine. I even got my first sunburn of the year.

Right away at this site I found a 1905 Indian Head Cent. It was the third signal I dug right after we got there. A good sign of things to come. Not long after that I got a "dream signal" 11-47 at 6 inches deep. It ended up being a silver quarter spill, 2 Washingtons in the same hole together. Then I got a Rosie and several wheat cents.

We took a short snack break at noon and then resumed our detecting. Things really slowed down for me after lunch but I eventually found another Rosie. Around 5:00 p.m. I was getting tired and hunting in kind of an out of the way area behind a pavilion. I got a perfect 13-46 signal at 7" deep and wow, it was a 1903-O Barber Dime! Things are looking up! About 15 feet from the Barber Dime I got another sweet 13-46 signal at 7" and it sounded like another silver dime. When I got it out of the hole and wiped some of the dirt off I couldn't believe it was an 1891 Seated Dime!

Before we called it quits I found another Rosie and a neat old token.

    Here are today's coins:

    And here are the keepers:

This was my 9th overall seated dime. It put a big smile on my face.

The old token and the medallion both came late in the day:

Tim had some neat finds too. Neither one of us had to endure the Silverless Drive Home of Shame today.

Fantastic finds Tony! Was this a public park or pvt property? If public prop your finds give us other "amateurs" a lot of hope!

The site is a former school grounds that has been turned into a public park. The original school building on the site was built in 1917 and torn down in the 1980s.

Now a Seated coin can get your attention mighty quick. Lots of silver, lots of Wheats and even throw in an Indian too. Sounds like a good soup to me
