    New in Mississippi

I believe I've finally found what I've been looking for. I purchased my first metal detector a few weeks ago and have been searching for sites that will teach me the ins and outs of my new hobby. American Detectorist appears to be just what I need.

A couple of weeks ago I had emergency eye surgery to repair a torn and detached retina so I'm off work until early May. Next week I should be able to pick my md back up and restart my detecting. Until then, I'll spend some time studying the posts here.

Im looking forward to learning from everyone's experiences and sharing in your finds.

Several of you asked about my detector. I bought a Bounty Hunter Quick Draw II. I thougt it would give me a good taste for this hobby. So far, it has worked well for me. I just need to hone my skills on deciding on where to detect. Also, thanks for all the welcomes.
