Here's a neat find that I found where I found my Con copper

I found this on the 29th of April and it was probably 15 inches down, I decided that I was going to dig some of the iron objects in the area, I also found an ox shoe that day too.

I've still got some more electrolysis to do on this one and then I'm going to be getting me some beeswax unless someone else has a better idea.

Was the half eaten JFK part of the finds? The ox shoe can sound like a coin too. I wonder why the religious plaque was made of iron. I figured something like brass to make it appear that it was made of gold.

I found the JFK on my way to the area where I been finding the really old stuff. I have no Idea why it was made from cast iron, probably cheaper to make back then, I'm sure it's well over a hundred years old though.

You know you will never get that close to the deer when you have a gun in your hand! LOL, guess they know what a metal detector is! Or a camera! Oh ya, nice finds there!

Really cool religious item. I'm in agreement, probably over the 100 years old. Your electrolysis process seems to be working quite well.
After digging a 15" hole I'm glad that you got a nice item and not a can.

Larry that area you took a picture of looks like an old old picked over farm field , very similar to ones we hunt around the old cellar holes and finding the ox shoe just proves it . congrats on the religious iron casting its a neat piece , job well done on the electrolysis.

There's a pair of Turkey's in the area that's about just as tame as the deer but not quite. It's a huge preserve but there's a lot of house's around it and if they're anything like my sister is they're feeding the animals all the time.

Nice looking iron picture. If I were to guess I would say 1900's give or take. Nice find that one would normally not dig for. It's always an eye opener when you dig signals that you would not dig on a different day.

    Well enough is enough

I decided to call it quits for the electrolysis on the plaque, it still had black rust left but I've been working on this thing long enough and decided to seal it up with a baked on coat of vegetable oil. For something that's been in the ground a long time I'm happy with the way it looks and I'm calling it good
