Looks like Gold, but it's .925

Ever since moving down to Florida just 7 months ago, the Mrs and I have been hitting the beaches almost every weekend. Her shelling and me, swinging the Garrett. Mostly we hit secluded areas or Islands, but every so often we go to some of the popular ones. This past weekend was one of those which see a lot of beach goers, Fort Desoto. You can detect most of the beach area and that's were we found this silver ear ring. Haven't had the stones checked out yet, but we did find the unmistaken .925 near the post. Good hunting all.

Nice find. The color of gold always gets the heart pumping. Unfortunately for us detectorists, gold plated sterling is becoming more common as it has the look of gold, but is far cheaper. The stones in these pieces are usually CZ. On occasion, even if the small stones are diamonds, they are not worth more than a few cents. Keep detecting, real gold is still to be found.

Thanks del. I haven't had a chance to have the stones looked at yet, but they sure shine.

Thanks Midas. By the way, what is CZ?

    Good hunting guys.

    CZ is cubic zirconia.

Cubic Zirconia, a synthetic fake diamond

    EDIT: I'm too slow.

Even if they are CZ's, they still look nice.
