Quick hunt after work at 1930s house

    Hey Diggers,
I got permission to MD a 1930s bungalow style house. Pulled a few goodies and a bunch of those old roofing tile nails. I noticed all the mercury dimes were found within a few inches of the sidewalk that ran along the side of the house. Thanks for looking and HH, Dave.

Nice going on those 3 sweet looking Mercs .I found several of those old type roofing nails at a school
that was built in 1936 . Only pulled one silver out of there though , a 1934 Merc . It was close to the edge of a sidewalk also .

nice digs !! and yeah.....those pesky little tile tacks!!! i absolutely hate them! they ring up a perfect silver dime signal every dang time, and deep enough to be expecting silver when i dig them. oh but nooooooooooooooooo...just another little bugger for the trash can lol.

I did some research Don. It turns out they are called copper disc rivets and their purpose is to bind the leading edge of a slate tile to the trailing edge of the slate tile below it. This prevents the wind from lifting one tile and snapping it (at the point where the two holes are drilled for the nails that hold it to the roof).
