    School House Hunt

Went to an old schoolhouse today found an 1865 Indian .925 silver ring with what looks like an opal and a button. I was pretty excited when I dug the ring it was the first ring i had found with markings Name: NCM_1197.jpg

it must of been a pretty recent drop , opals are a soft stone and can crack easily under extreme temps . we don't see many pieces of jewelry with them stones . very nice find

Is the Indian head and button close to the date of the hay day of the school?

Actually the school was built in 1913 so I was pretty surprised when I saw the date on the Indian. I don't know anything about the button

Beautiful ring They do make synthetic ones, but they are not as nice as the real thing. Congrats on a really sweet ring. That is an early Indian for sure. Love Indians pre 1880. As for the button? Does it look like an old jeans button or is it possibly a small knob, like from a jewelry box or similar? If you have a black light, check that opal under it. if it glows (fluoresces) I think then it's real.
