3 Coppers & A Flintlock!

Had the day off from work & went to a new spot. Weather was so much better than the last few days. Boy this was one hot spot!

Got a KGI Hibernia Double Strike Error, CT Copper & a Draped Bust, along with the Flintlock hammer with the flint still in it! Nabbed some more buttons as well.

On the way home I spotted another hole by the side of the road and pulled a pocket spill full of goodies, Standing Liberty, Buffalo Nickel & 3 Wheaties.

I'd say. A much better day than a day at work. The SLQ has real nice detail. The double strike is intriguing. I wonder the rarity of double strikes. It's not a die cracked coin which seems more often. Quite a big range of dates of items; all the way up yo wheats. Nice finds.

Wow, what an incredible day!

So many fantastic finds! I wonder what the odds are of finding a flintlock with the flint still in it? That's amazing!

And that double-struck King George I copper is way cool!

And just look at the detail on that 1807 Draped Bust Large Cent!

And a coin spill containing a beautiful SLQ is icing on the cake!

I would be in seventh heaven for a week if I found even ONE of those items!

You killed it today. Such a wide range of finds. That flint lock w/flint is so cool, would definitely be a highlight in my display. That double struck coin is exceptional and the draped bust...

What an incredible day you had. Would love to see a couple more pictures of the double strike. These are more known from Machins Mills than on regal halfpence. Also, it appears the CT is a 1787 M.19-g.4. The varieties with the crosses in the legends are much easier to identify as there are only a dozen or so different varieties and most have unique reverse dies not uses with other varieties. Flintlock is absolutely amazing! Way to go.

Amazing finds for sure that flint lock hammer is really cool, amazing that the flint was still intact!

Thanks Guys! Was a fun day. I really pounded that site with the stock coil & switched over to the 6x10 DD. Will definitely be going back there.

Excellent hunt with a top notch relic and, very good conditioned SLQ and 3 old coppers too boot. Without a doubt finding the flintlock hammer with the used flint in it can be your relic find of the year. It is one thing to find the gun parts but I think it is very special to have found a part with the flint installed, I would be happy to find either right now, yet alone together. Your KG Irish is a KGIII Irish and if you weigh it you might find out it is a counterfeit like mine is. Attaching a photo of the double struck reverse of my 1781 Irish I found back in 2006. (It only weighs 93.4 grains) The Obverse not as good condition to see if that also was double struck. Don
My Avatar is a 1781 KGIII Irish Halfpenny counterfeit, one of my neatest counterfeits, since the O in GEORGIVS was first struck with the letter G, than the O. (That one weighs 93.5 grains)

The hammer is so cool, I only hope I can find the lockplate. I'm pretty sure it came off a Charleville Musket.

Thanks for the kind words Dan. This was my best hunt of the season. It seems like the French had the heart shape on their hammers. What model musket is the one you posted?

I believe the copper planchet was inserted in between the dies and into a screw type press , this coin would had to have been pressed twice to look like that and are not a common error to see with colonial coins. its a very cool coin Roger .
