A church/school from 1876-1925.......Also! From 1907 and every other year,... they had there township reunions there on the
grounds..This lasted for two weeks at a time and up until 1925 when they moved the reunions a few miles east because the attendance
was more that the old church grounds could handle...The newer place had the reunions there from 1927-1991.. Here are some finds
that were recoverd from the old church grounds..
"NOTE" The Barber Half was Planted for my buddy to find as a joke....Bad joke for me as I lost that half...LOL

It's going to be hard trying to find another hunting area like the old church grounds.
The area was basically, undisturbed for all these years (90). only cattle running around on the grounds.
I have permission to hunt the newer Reunion ground but there has been some new buildings and dozer
work done there....The owner of the new grounds showed me around where the bleacher's were, and where
they cooked the fish. He took me inside the old concession stand thats still there. Later I went in there with
a rake and cleaned up the junk laying around. I did find two war time Mercury's a couple early wheats and
a silver war nickel plus some newer change that was lost in the 80's...The Area hasn't been mowed and the
grass is weeds now...The owner said he night mow it again sometime..This should allow me to bring up some
    history from 1920's on up!

I would love to find a place like that. It's one of those places where you have to dig everything.

    Excellent finds.

    Beartoe,
I don't mind digging trash at the old church grounds, because I know the area is old and void of most newer type trash.
But put me in a old park that's still in use and i'm digging pulltabs at 5" and I will load up and go home! I like history
and spending what little time I have to detect in area's like this is not for me..I have dug one old barber dime in this same
park (1916) in the midst of iron there..but my time is better spent in my county history books hoping to find more areas
like the Old Church Grounds...Problem is though! Most of those older nice area's or old one room school houses and country
churches have newer homes there..I am going this morning and detect and old one room school house in the link below.
Not to many days left here in west central Illinois before snow hit's us
