Went back to where Dan and I hunted yesterday. Was heading back to the farthest corn field swinging away and I get a VDI of 83. About 6" down I see a nice green disc, the obverse is toast but the reverse is okay. It's a 1787 Ct copper. Then a couple of cuff buttons in a row, then a dandy. Now this next find I am all excited about cause I have never found a State copper before. I think that this one is in very good shape also. It also rang up as 83 VDI but only about 3" down. Even with my bad eyesight I could tell that this coin was in pretty good shape. I have done nothing to it except rubbed a soft toothbrush across it. It's a CT copper dated 1787, I know nothing about varieties or even if they exist for this coin.
Somewhere in between the buttons and a copper I dug a whatsit......any ideas.
I think that this is the first time that I have gotten 2 colonial coppers in one hunt.
Thanks for reading and HH.
Well as you can see by reading some of the replies, these coppers are both Ct's.
