Took my son metal detecting today - he got the best keeper!

My youngest son Cole (11 yrs) wanted to go metal detecting today, so off we went to a recent permission site with a small cellar hole close to the road (no hiking involved). This was a good choice since rain shortened our trip after only an hour or so. This site has obviously been hit before, but he managed to pull an early ax head and this c. 1890s blob top intact bottle from beneath a rusty old can. I didn't get much to show on this post but was thrilled to see my kid get a nice keeper for his effort. It's a Dr. Pierce's Golden Medical Discovery Bottle (fairly common) http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-1800...-/350786988955
    Thanks for looking.

I have that same bottle , the one your son got is older then the ebay example and is probably closer to 1880's as it looks like it has the "applied lip" its a great find . Tell Cole he did good

Thanks for the nice complement Dan. I figured you might have a better estimate on the date than I. I figured it was an older variety given the top. Several links off Etsy/Ebay and other sites on the internet on this bottle, but couldn't narrow it down to more than "late 1800s". Thanks.
