    Six Silver Coins Day

Yesterday I spent the day gathering and bagging leaves, trimming shrubs, and doing other work around the house. I had hoped to get out for an hour or so to detect, but it was too late in the day for that. I did manage to get out today though, and ended up scoring with several nice silver coins.

The first silver coin was a 1946 Rosie. I dropped the towel to mark where I dug the dime and began to slowly circle outward, hitting on another nice sounding target about three feet away from where I dug the Rosie. I cut a plug and dug up a beautiful 1939 mercury dime.

Continuing with the circle, I came across yet another tone, this one sounding a tad deeper than the first two. Again, I cut a plug and dug up some soil. I was rewarded with a great looking 1911-D Barber dime! A silver dime trifecta within an hour. Sweet!

I kept circling for a few more feet before heading toward the towel. I began walking around from there, and about 25 minutes later I hit on a very good tone. This time the target was a 1903 Barber dime. Circling only produced clad coins this time, but walking around after that did yield me another silver dime, a 1935 mercury dime. Here it is still in encased in soil.

It was another 45 minutes before I hit on my last silver coin, a dateless Standing Liberty quarter. I was stoked!

Here it is giving me a glimpse of its reeded edge.

And after removing some of the soil.

    Today's silver take.

    HH!

Those are some incredible finds Angel. What would you grade that 1911 Barber as? It looks brand new.

I'm no grading expert, but I would say AU. It really is a nice looking piece.
