I was hunting a pre 1883 school house and dug a buckle. I remember my MD buddy told me before about a buckle he saw that had a heart on it. It was a CW Btass Heart Blanket buckle for a confederate soldier.
If is not what I think it is let me know.

unfortunately there are those that will use unsavory tactics and embellishment to make a quick buck Nalc . these buckles have been debated for many years now and while they may have been around as long as the Civil War era and are still being made and used today. they are a horse tack buckle and there is no proof of them ever being used by soldiers as blanket bed rolls fasteners.

A nice find though even if it may not be all you expected .I sure like that Caped Bust in your avatar .I would love to find one of those .Best of luck in your CW relic hunting .
Nice horse buckle. Decorative ones like yours are always keepers in my book.

Nice buckle regardless. I would still say that It is older even if it is not part of the CW. Judge by the age of the schoolhouse.
Sweet buckle! I don't know I miss these things Took me a week to see this!
