Got out today to a spot I've wanted to hit for a few years now.

It's pretty far from home but I finally did it. I spotted these from historic aerials from a shot take in 1949. I was also able to see them in the 1934 shot, which is the earliest one available. Unfortunately the Topo's that go back to 1892 do not show them on that map or the map from 1868.

Someone spent some serious cash to have these built. The main building looks like it was a stable based on all of the divider walls. I spent some time here & ended up with nothing except shot gun head stamps & shell casing. Was pretty disappointed.

I went back close to home to a spot that has produced relic's but only 3 LC's.

There's one of these places somewhere north of Todd and Dave. I've only read about it but haven't bothered to check it out. Maybe yours was a short lived place. Sounds like it from your research. Some of the Petersen maps are actually 1874 while they are listed 1868.... just be aware of that. Prob was cleaned out years ago. Good relics, tho from the closer spot.

Definitely not short lived. This area is full of "Old Money" families.

Either I read things wrong or our definitions of short lived are different. I thought you said they weren't on the old maps, only visible from the 34 aerial and 49 aerial. I meant short lived as in maybe early 1900s to latest 1960 as absolute extremes. To me there would be def be some items lost, but there just hadn't been much activity. You gotta think with the old farms, the roads to fields would be traveled 4 times a day minimum, for 100 years. I guess I am comparing to the age of some sites around the state....
