    Tale of Two Coppers

It was the best of coppers, it was the worst of coppers!
Another short visit to the site that last week produced nice looking 1820 and 1827 LCs, few IHs, and counterfeit capped bust half dollar...this time I found an even prettier LC! ...and a completely blank copper Not one detail. The 1831 LC is nicer than the pic would indicate.
Dandies are usually blank on the back, but this one has "plated" stamped on it. I also found another one of those nose ring looking buckles. Thanks for looking!

That is a nice looking copper Drew. Love that patina. I want that thing to be an ox nose ring.....but I can't find a perfect match yet.....

Let me butcher another Dickens's quote...from the same novel...... " A day wasted metal detecting, is not wasted on one's self."

Way to go Drew. LC is in nice shape indeed! That little button with the star pattern is also a very nice find.

I'm a firm believer that some years of coppers are of better quality than others , for example i've gotten 4 1831's since detecting and all 4 have really held up well , some are more worn than others but they all cleaned up well or needed very little cleaning at all . yours is a very very nice example Drew !congrats

I agree Dan. I have 5 - 1818's in nice shape. Actually 4 of them are in great shape....3 in superb shape, 2 in pristine shape and one in killer shape I don't have a single 1831 though.
