I found this at a 1840s house site and not sure of what it is and would appreciate any help in IDing it.

It is about the size of a half dollar and appears to be made of brass it also has a rim about 1/8 inch.
The Cross passed through a Crown symbol is the key emblem of the Royal Black institution ,(a sister organisation of the Orange Order), a Protestant fraternity, with structural and symbolic links to Freemasons (knights of templar were symbolized by a red cross) also is seen by some to be a Christian symbol appearing in many churches, particularly Roman Catholic; and has also been used in heraldry.
Hello Makaluta , welcome to the forum. Please can you describe the reverse or post a picture ?
