    1800s Tobacco Tin?

So this could be quite the interesting find if it does turn out to be what I think it is..

On the very last signal of the day my friend dug this closed container. We decided to go home and give it a light wire brush to see if we could carefully get it open and see what was inside.

We eventually got it open and it looks to be filled to the top with what we think is tobacco. It's obviously 150+ years old so it won't be in prime condition. There's no way dirt could get into/be filled to the brim of a closed container. It doesn't smell like dirt either. It also has a tobacco type texture. The cap has some writing but it is difficult to make out

    Any thought??

Put a pinch between cheek and gum and let us know what you think.

A tobacco tin is as good a guess as any. I found a boot black (polish) tin that was similar to that.
Oldest find: 5,000 year old copper spearhead
Oldest coin: 1699 William III halfpenny
Purdiest coin: 1832 Capped Bust quarter
Coolest find: USA button with blue threads still on shank

Hahaha that's what everyone's said. I'd be packing dust. But interesting. I'm gonna work to get the wording off the cap
