    Not Sure Relic

I have permission to dig an exciting new site. Dates back to 1830s as a farm. I have 5 acres to dig up at my leisure. There is iron every where especially where the old barn used to be. Cut nails galore.

What is it? It is perfect size for a table salt shaker.

Height 3.5 inch. Widest diameter 1.5 inch. It is hollow and weighs 2.81 Ozs. The top appears to be threaded. This was a rock solid silver hit at 7-8 inch deep. It is very pitted and is some kind of pewter type metal.

The little foots make me think it was designed to be displayed. I wonder if the lid had holes in it? Perhaps it is an aroma decanter?

An old salt or pepper shaker.
My wife does all the driving, I just hold the steering wheel!

I would tend to agree with salt or pepper shaker due to the screw top.

It has also been suggested on another site that this item may be a cruet and that it a good possibility.
