    V3i vs. DFX

Would this be a major upgrade? It would mean I would have to sell my DFX and learn a new machine plus a bit of cash outlay.

    Re: V3i vs. DFX

i'm not a 100% convinced it would , i would love to use a v3i for awhile and match it up with my dfx and a d2 coil to compare them . but i guess the best one to answer the question would be Jack (Cybersage) and a few others that have had both machines.

    Re: V3i vs. DFX

I would be really tempted to put a D2 coil on the DFX first to see what it would do for depth and ID stability. I am assuming the coil would work on a DFX?? That way you are not out 1500+ dollars if you don't like the V3i. Plus maybe you could get the V3i with a different coil than the D2 since you would have already purchased the D2 coil to try on the DFX. Just my thoughts on it! That is how I would do it if I were to get one. But now I'm thinking....hmmm if the D2 fits on the DFX, I might just get one to try on mine lol You too Del and you Catskillcomics... rofl

    Re: V3i vs. DFX

I traded in my 3 year old DFX and $300.00 for a V3i with the 10DD, 950 and 12 coils. All V rated. My dealer made me a great deal. I now own the V3i, MXT, M6, Prizm 2 and a blue box 3900/D. All the coils too. I also have an old Metronics in the hard case thumbsup01 I have tried to like the V3i, but I always go back to the M6. The M6 was my first machine and I got used to it and find good stuff with it. With the M6 and 6x10 I can dig dime at 8all day. I really need to learn the V3i better. I want to load in Jacks Program and see how it performs.

    Re: V3i vs. DFX

I have used a DFX for many years, and still do from time to time with a Bigfoot coil. I currently use a V3 as my main detector at this time. My coin gardens were all planted 4 years ago for use with my DFX. There is really no comparison in the sensitivity and depth between the 2 detectors. I have done side by side comparisons using the D2 coil on both machines. There are of coarse many variables on either detector, but I think my results are fairly accurate. I will say that the Super12 coil seems to perform better on the DFX for some reason. The D2, 950, 6X10, and 112 SEF all get better results with the V3. If you have the opportunity to upgrade from the DFX to the Vision/V3/V3i I would jump on it in a heart beat. Like I said there is really no comparison.

The D2 is extremely noisy on the DFX. It did seem to get some good penetration once stabilized. The SEF 112 on the DFX worked much better than the D2 or the 6X10 Eclipse. I really liked the D2 on the MXT however. It was my coil of choice on this detector. I hardly ever took off the Super12 when using the DFX. This coil really does kick butt when used with correlate on the DFX.

Good to know. I won't be buying a D2 for my DFX. Super 12 hmmm? I'll have to go to E bay and see if there is one cheap lol

Jack is pretty much dead on with his views on the V3i.One thing I might add id theV3i appears to run quieter and ID better than the DFX did. Yazoo
