Got permission at 10 houses today!

    Hey Diggers,
Today I met up with Digger Don. This was my first outing since my return from CT. All told, we got permissions at 10 different houses all ranging in date from 1880s to 1910s. I ended up with 8 silver coins, 4 indian head cents (including a key date 1871), 3 buffalo nickels, and can you believe 50 wheat cents! Here is some pics. Thanks for looking and HH, Dave.

Just looked up the 1871 IH. what does the back look like? There's 2 varieties, shallow and bold N in "cent". The shallow variety is worth almost double.

The back of the coin is very worn. This particular IHC is not the typical Illinois "greenie" we usually get. I don't know if these pics give the detail you need but it's the best I could get.

Some great digging. One of my goals this year is to finally get my 1000th wheat, so that means more door knocking. Getting 10 permissions in one day is outstanding. Congrats on all those silvers and wheat's .....

Good catch DoD! The Trumpet serifs on the letter "E" gives it away. The coin almost looks like it was burned or corroded from contact with coal dust.

Congrats on the terrific day of detecting, Dave! FIFTY wheat cents in one day, wow! You must have been wore out at the end of that day.

Lots of really nice finds, but that 1871 Indian Head takes the prize. Very scarce coin and the date on yours is very clear, no question that it's 1871. That one is still on my bucket list for Indian Heads.

    Lifetime totals:
10 Large Cents, 415 Indian Heads, 2 Two Cent Pieces, 1 Capped Bust Half Dime, 1 Seated Half Dime, 10 Shield Nickels, 68 V Nickels, 124 Buffalo Nickels, 31 War Nickels, 16 Seated Dimes, 131 Barber Dimes, 405 Mercury Dimes, 249 Rosies, 4 Seated Quarters, 18 Barber Quarters, 20 Standing Liberty Quarters, 89 Silver Washingtons, 1 Seated Half, 3 Barber Halves, 16 Walking Liberty Halves
