This one has me stumped. I found it this past Saturday. It appears to have been nickel plated at one time. There are some numbers stamped on the back but I can't quite make them out. Might be 2883?
Any ideas?

My initial thought was a window latch of some sort. It looks like the tab on the left side is bent.

Wow , my first thoughts are it looks strangely like a bent side plate from an old musket rifle but these are very seldom "nickel plate" or silver washed Tony . I'm assuming its broken on the non looped side ?

It doesn't really appear to be broken. There is a crack in it though, like it was bent too far. It also has weird serrations on one end.

The first thought that came to my mind was a door or drawer pull. The numbers would be the model.

My wife does all the driving, I just hold the steering wheel!
A bottle opener from an old soda cooler? Maybe mount off the top or side, not sure.

Thanks for all of the suggestions, I really appreciate the help!
I think I have this one figured out. Although I couldn't find an exact match, I think it is a latch for an old ice box.
Here's one currently on eBay that is very similar to mine:

Ah ! that would explain the nickel plating as that was very popular on old cast iron stove fronts and early refrigerators and "ice boxes" handles and hinges. Nice Id Tony !
