    Small Shield Buckle

I've been tantalizingly close to finding some very good finds at this site... but no cigar as yet. This shield buckle is very light weight...it couldn't hold much load at all. Seems like there is no consensus as to what it is. Saddle design, tack, military, civilian? Thanks!!

I like the "machined etched tombac" Dew , clean it up and give us a gander ! These shield buckles show up every now and then in many different sizes too. The general consensus is that they are primarily civilian . they are still a nice find in my opinion . Congrats Drew
