I don't even know if this would be considered a buckle. Is this part of a bridle? If so, where would it go? I think it is brass and there are no markings on it.

Well, I asked Mark Parker of Eastern&Western Treasures magazine and he is stumped. He thinks it may be type of halter square but isn't sure. Neither he nor I can find anything like it on the internet.
