    ID help please.

I found this last night at a very old property. It looks like a tool of sorts, with a indentation for a thumb and a small hook cutout on the bottom. Very heavy with a dark brown patina. Any idea what it may be? There are no sharp edges anywhere. Thanks in advance for your replies.

Just a guess, but I'm thinking that it possibly has something to do with cloth, maybe weaving, spinning, looming etc? I could be way off in left field though.
