Got #32 Copper

Well I went back to the farm field that I have been detecting over the years and got my 32nd copper from that field.

First keeper was a cuff button, shank intact. Then some odds and ends pieces of metal, 22 shells, shotgun shell.

The LC is a 1819 in pretty good shape.

Drew, these are farm fields that I do and currently mostly plowed. The farmer also removed to fields of strawberry plants so wide open areas. I believe that the coins are in such good shape due to the sandy soil.

Today I hunted for about 3 hours. At most I'll go for 5 hours. If I get something good I don't stay to long cause I know that I can go back whenever.

Most of my hunts are easy to get to. I don't have to walk for an hour up a mountain, cross brooks, etc. I park my car, put my gear on and basically start detecting. The farm where I took the Illinois boys, park and detect. Same with the golf course.

Nice copper Al. Good shape. All those coppers...Even if that was just a farm field for 200 years, the farmers losing 1 copper every 7 years or so isn't unreasonable. But it does make me wonder what other types of activities that field saw over all those years.

Beautiful Large Cent! It cleaned up really well. Soon to be 200 years old! I would spend all of my free time in that field! I agree that there had to be some kind of trading post or farm hand payment site there at one time. That is a lot of coppers, and you know there are more!

I like your thinking. I took 1857(last year for LC's) - 1750 and came up with 3.34 every year.

also like your thinking. I have gone a couple of times without getting a copper but its finds like these that keep me going back. Right now its been plowed and I am sure that's why the coppers are starting to show up again.

The two strawberry patches that he removed had been there for 2 years, so I couldn't hunt there.....but now I can....

Very nice looking early Matron Al! Your field sounds similar to my honey field. I drive about 40 minutes to get there, then park the car and walk right on and start swinging. My last Draped Bust was found 10 feet out in front of the front bumper.
