Good 6-hour hunt at the siege site

    Hey diggers,
It was supposed to rain ALL day so we went prepared and not a single drop of rain fell! LOL. I had a great day. a 23 lb cannon ball from 2 1/2 feet down. 2 old silvers: a 1684 Kreutzer from Germany and a 1574 Douzain from France (King Charles IX). Both coins are in TERRIBLE shape but that's okay--I'll be keeping them! I also got 3 nice buckles. Two are from the 1600's and one is a late medieval buckle ca. 1350 to 1450. I had two surprise finds today also. A very nice Roman coin from about 10 inches deep. It's a sestertius depicting Septimius Severus and dates to A.D. 193 - 211. I also found a Bronze Age knife blade. I'm told it's probably about 2,500 years old. In the second pic I highlighted where it was hafted to a handle. Throw in a few assorted buttons and about 23 musket balls and I had a great day! Thanks for looking and MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone!!
