Pewter Shoe Buckle

Hey Everyone,
Was walking to another site I hadn't been to in years. As I got to about 200yrds from the cellar hole I turned on the Deus2. Couple of swings and I got a musket ball, then a couple more and I got this sweet Pewter shoe buckle!
Actually, I'm not sure its pewter OR a shoe buckle . It could be a very large knee buckle AND it could be low grade silver. it has a knee buckle pin alignment and chape like a knee buckle but it's bent like a shoe buckle and husky, not at all delicate like a shoe buckle. Also much larger than any knee buckles I've seen. So I don't know.

It came out of the ground covered in hard crud which had to be picked off to reveal the shiny metal underneath. If it was silver I don't think it would accumulate a hard crust.

It's noticeably fatter on one side of the frame which seems odd.
