I was able to sniff out an 1843 Large Cent and a 1740 1 real today. I haven't had a copper and a real on the same hunt in some time. They were about 2 feet apart right up close to the cellar hole's well. The real is from a Mexican mint and is in nice shape.

Dan you are right on all accounts. If you go by coins as an indicator, 1738 is the earliest and 1843 is the latest. 11 coins were from the 1700s and 18 coins were from the 1800 to 1843.Originally Posted by del

What an incredible site that must be! Such a wonderful variety of really old coins. That 1843 Large Cent must have been brand new when it was dropped! It has really sharp detail.
