    Wheat to Silver ratio help...

    Hi folks,

I am interested in some data from you all.

I would like to see if there is a general ratio of how many wheats everyone digs to silver.

There are variances to any statistic I realize this, but I would love to see if there is a general average amongst us treasure hunters.

My wheat count for the year was 478 and my silver count was 101.

So the number I am looking for is wheat count divided my silver count.

    My number would be 4.73

If you could, please post your wheat/silver ratio number.

I am very interested (since it's winter here ) what everyone else's is.

Thank you very much for participating. I know, I know... I have been described as obsessive compulsive on more than one occasion. lol

    Joe

Last year I dug 39 wheats and 72 silver coins.
All but 6 of the wheats were dug from the middle of Sept to the end of the year. The silver all year.
I had one of my detectors repaired in the summer and it read correctly on coin signals afterward.

Interesting question, I have noticed that my ratio runs about 5 to 1 also.

I found a whopping five silver coins last year
and a small hand full of wheats
    Make it 7 to 1

If it's a hammered spot the ratio is low but if it's a spot where detectorist's haven't been hammering the ration probably would be closer to 5:1

My ratio is about 10 to 1 I don't know why that high maybe the people around here were too poor to carry much silver. lol or maybe it is because I had several double digit wheat days that skews the count....or gasp maybe I am just now learning to understand the silver signals not complaining of course. My last three hunts turned up 4 silvers including a Barber dime.

It's just a matter of luck if you ask me.

Re: Wheat to Silver ratio help...

Mine would probably be 10 to 1 if I'm lucky which I'm not so its probably worse than that. Yep I think its luck because when I do real good on silver then I'll go for awhile without finding any, thats my luck catching up with me.

Re: Wheat to Silver ratio help...

Wow...thanks for logging your stats everyone.

4-5 wheats to every silver seems to be slightly more common so far.

I am a bit surprised at Angel's ratio... I figured yours was probably closer to 4-5 silvers for every wheat. rofl

Thanks again and if anyone else would like to post their ratio... please do so.
