    Brass Shotgun Shell

Went on a nice woods hunt last Sunday with Pulltab Steve. Snow was pretty deep so finds were limited. Did find an old shotgun shell, all brass, made by Union Metallic Co. Bridgeport, Conn. They made shells from 1867-1911 before being bought by Remmington. Found a cool website for dating shotgun shells: http://members.shaw.ca/cartridge-corner/shotgun.htm
Will have to hit these woods with Steve when the conditions are better, got to be some old coins here Tuesday dumped another two feet of snow on what was already there so hunting is out for a while, time to research some new spots. HH thumbsup01

Hidy Ml. Nice finds. I have found them in Union City. I am glad you put the date on it, always wonder what the dates were. Mine was about a foot in the ground and I was in a mans yard.

I have found 2 of those in all the days of detecting. We have that site listed in our relic section links.

It has a lot of other useful stuff too. JohnM listed some of his favorite links also.

Every now and then I'll run across one of them old full brass shells but they're always split from being used too many times and evidently the hunter discarded them.
