    I got a tough one!!!

I found this at an elementary school with the DFX, it was 6 inches down and VDIed at 72-73 and I beleve it might be brass, its about 2 inches in both directions and has some weight to it, I thought it was some type of smoking pipe until I saw the threads.

My first thought was an old laboratory gas valve.

    Howdy Pard!
Before I looked at what others said, my thought was that it was a valve for a gas lamp. Like lamps today, some are fancier than others. The ornate look suggests an indoor gas lamp such as could be found in homes before electrics came along.
