First GOLD at C.S.A. home place

Hidy to all & hope all are well. I went hunting all morning Wed. It was snowing wind blowing and cold most of the day on new land, didnt find nothing. So I went back to the Confederate Soldiers old home place about 1:30. Here in about 15 minutes I found something that looked like another reins ring to a team of horses. BBBUUUTTT, didnt take me long to see the deep yellow color, that means the good stuff. It was the outside of his pocket watch. All the other parts of it and all the rust in that place had well covered it up big time. I tried cleaning it and it broke. So now I have it in some WD-40 soaking for a while, it sure ant going to hurt the gold, if I get it cleand enouth I will post it in a few days. Found an old pin or watch fobb, cant find it on Internet, so any help I can use. And the usual old stuff, And what looked like an old gold plated wedding band all out of shape. All this will be given back to his great great grand son. And thats my first Gold watch with that much gold on it. Owell he might enjoy it in a differnt than I.Hope yall enjoy and H.H.

    Nice recoveries CWN.

Curious, do you know what the ring mounted on the screw item(top left in photo) is?

I found two of them this year and have been wondering.

Thanks and congrats on your hunt.

I believe they are carriage reign guides, and from what I could tell, are located on a heavy harness right behind the front legs. This is also where the carriage would be attached to and where I saw some of those dreaded &quot buckles we find are located lol
